Mediation - Educating Children with Disabilities
Mediation is an option for many disputes between parents and schools. It is common when a due process complaint has been filed. Participation in mediation is voluntary. Mediation discussions are confidential and cannot be used later in the hearing. The state covers the cost of the mediator (though not of the attorneys the parties may hire). If you go to mediation, you do not have to settle. But if you do reach an agreement and sign it, that agreement is legally binding.
